Happy New Years at/from/with VT Fiddle Heads

Happy New Year good Fiddle Heads Peeps!

Today is the new year - how fun is that?

It's been a very nice week off. I've been on STAYcation with my family and we've just been chilling out. We ended the week with friends over for new year's eve which was so very nice. Today I'm sleepy from being up late but my heart is full of joy and love right now.

We're gearing up for being back at work. I've been planning out everything that needs to happen to get back into the swing of things. We'll have normal business hours this week and this month. So sorry to have disappointed some that came by or called to see if we were open last week. It was the first week off for me in a long time.

Please contact me if you'd like to join us for the ****WINTER RAW FOOD**** class. Cost of the class is $60 and we'll be making (& EATING & learning about) raw foods that are great to fill us up and keep us going in the cold winter. Come hungry because you'll be eating!!

Be sure to check us on the web as we have lots of new products online and in the store, too, always. We seem to be getting lots of new fun things. This week we have Traumeel products, Tooth Soap, more new bulk herbs and spices, new items from Living Intentions, Living Nutz, great olives, essential oils, herb glycerites, new E3 Live products and more. We have Alissa's book back (Living on Live Food) in finally, and a coupla NEW things mentioned below!!

Fun news that happened just before the holidays: My contributions to two books are now out! Raw Fusion (Volumes 1 & 2) and a cook book that comes with the new VitaMix blenders. It was like receiving a little pressie to see the box come in the mail with the cookbooks in them. Very exciting! See below for more pictures...

1 local, organic apple (or 2)

Most of us have over indulged in the last week or so. Our tummies can be feeling heavy, our bodies can be feeling tired. So honestly, the best thing to eat right now is an apple.

Apples are hydrating, providing you with soluble and insoluble fiber and carbohydrates which help to give you a little pick me up. Apples have pectin in them which is said to help "prevent cholesterol buildup in the lining of blood vessel walls, thus reducing the incident of atherosclerosis and heart disease. The insoluble fiber in apples provides bulk in the intestinal tract, holding water to cleanse and move food quickly through the digestive system.

It is a good idea to eat apples with their skin. Almost half of the vitamin C content is just underneath the skin. Eating the skin also increases insoluble fiber content. Most of an apple's fragrance cells are also concentrated in the skin and as they ripen, the skin cells develop more aroma and flavor." http://urbanext.illinois.edu/apples/nutrition.cfm

They even have a cute little apple facts page here: http://urbanext.illinois.edu/apples/facts.cfm
